Sport Specific Information
When and where did you begin this sport? She was first put on a horse at age one. She took up endurance in 1995 and entered her first competition at age 10.
Why this sport? Her father was an international endurance rider and she followed him into the sport. "When I was a little over one year old I would accompany my father on his horse on a green pillow in front of the saddle. I got my own small pony, Merlin, when I was four, whom I fell off multiple times a day. In the end he is the reason why difficult horses don't buck me off easily."

Other information CHOOSING ENDURANCE She decided to pursue endurance over other disciplines because of her father's influence, as well as her own personal preference. "I love to be outside with the horses. Dressage is the basic for each horse, which is very important to me, but I get bored riding loops in an arena. Even the dressage I teach them mostly in the forest. I liked eventing too, but as my family was already in endurance it made more sense to focus on that. What I love about endurance is the fact that it's more than just riding the horse. Strategically there are many things to take into account when wanting to win a race." (endurance-world.com, 04 Jul 2020) FURTHER EDUCATION In 2009 she completed a master's degree in accounting and finance at the Free University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
