Sport Specific Information | |
---|---|
When and where did you begin this sport? | She began riding at age three, and started competing at age seven. "My first pony was a shared pony with my sister. The pony was called Blackie." |
Why this sport? | She and her horse Doms Choice began entering both eventing and jumping competitions until it became clear that the horse was more suited to jumping. "I loved the fairness. If you had a jump down you didn't win. If you were the fastest, you did, and it didn't matter what you looked like." |

Sporting philosophy / motto | "Pushing outside of your comfort zone is important to both horse and rider progression. I'd rather be the small fish in the big pond with the potential to grow." (myhorsebox.com, 01 Dec 2016) |
Other information | ILLNESSES She has Addison's disease, which is also known as primary adrenal insufficiency or hypocortisolism, and in 2021 she was diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia. The condition causes severe facial pain and it affected her significantly for several weeks before she found medication to control the symptoms. "I can't begin to explain the pain and also how debilitating it was becoming. It came from nowhere and suddenly I was having up to eight attacks a day of which three were at night. The attacks were so intense that I didn't even know what to do with myself. The intensity of the pain was both physically and mentally incapacitating."
